John Jackson’s AIDAN 5 Thrills at Miami International Film Festival

COLUMBUS, Ohio (03/27/09) — Aidan 5, the science-fiction short directed by Mills James Producer/Director John Jackson, earned second runner-up at Filmapalooza, part of the Miami International Film Festival held recently in Miami, Florida.

“For the film to make the top three out of an international field and compete with teams from Paris, London and Tel Aviv,” said Jackson, “it just makes the whole experience very cool and humbling.”

The story, told through a unique style of visionary filmmaking and art, is set in a futuristic city and chronicles the journey of one detective who must unravel the mystery behind the serial killing of his own clones.

Aidan 5 debuted in September 2008 at the 48-Hour Film Festival in Columbus where it won numerous awards, including “Best Special Effects,” “Best Graphics,” “Best Sound Design,” “Best of Columbus” and was also winner of the “Audience Choice Award.”

The success of Aidan 5 has inspired the production of a dramatic Web series, which is slated to premiere this summer at www.Aidan5.com. “We are planning to create roughly 15 five- to six-minute shorts with Room 101 Productions,” Jackson said. “It should make for one exciting summer.”

Jackson’s winning production team consisted of several other Mills James associates, including Mark Abrams, Ben Brown, Sean Coppens, Alex Kaiser, Mike Jackson, Rob Johnson and James McCullars.

Jackson has years of writing, producing, directing and editing experience. At Mills James, Jackson handles a variety of projects including producing and directing national and local commercial spot work, episodic television programs and corporate video presentations. He earned a Midwest Regional Emmy for his work on the comedy television program Bananas.
